AWARD OF EMERGENCY CONTRACT

WHEREAS, the Township of Medford sustained a snow storm throughout the Township on February 25-26, 2010; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works determined that an emergency affecting the public health, safety and welfare existed and required immediate clean up; and

WHEREAS, it was determined that the Department of Public Works

required assistance from a qualified company in order to address this emergent matter; and

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-6 provides for the negotiation and award of a

contract without public advertising for bids when an emergency affecting the public

health, safety or welfare requires the immediate performance of services; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-6, a written requisition for the

performance of such work or services, describing the nature of the emergency, the

time of its occurrence, and the need for invoking this section has been certified by the

Director of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, the Township Manager, having been satisfied that the emergency existed in accordance with the Department of Public Works and being authorized to award a contract for said work, labor, materials, supplies or services, awarded said contract for services to 4RO Services; and

WHEREAS, the Township Council of the Township of Medford is required to

take such action in order to provide for the payment of the contract price; and

WHEREAS, funds are available for this purpose.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Council of the

Township of Medford that 4RO Services be and is hereby awarded the contract to provide assistance to the Medford Township Department of Public Works in removing

snow for an amount not to exceed $6,000.00

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and/or Township Manager are hereby authorized to execute any and all documents in furtherance of this emergency.
