PUBLIC HEARING ON PPE ZONING DISTRICT MASTER PLAN RE-EXAMINATION REPORT
TAKE NOTICE that on 18th day of December 2017, at 7:00 p.m., a hearing will be held before the Medford Township Planning Board at the Public Safety Building, 91 Union Street, Medford, NJ 08055 on the Medford Township Reexamination Report of 2017 which recommends changes to the Park, Public, Education (PPE) Zone to the original intent of the Municipal Master Plan to include public uses such as, municipal parks, open space parcels, schools, and public buildings and facilities, such as Town Hall, and remove non-public parcels including some but not all, youth camps, cemeteries, places of worship, and residential uses which have been placed in the zone. The non-public parcels placed in the PPE Zone will generally revert to conditionally permitted uses, with buffer and setback requirements, using the underlying zoning designations.
The PPE Zoning Districts Master Plan Reexamination Report is on file in the office of the Planning Board in the Municipal Building and is available for inspection by clicking HERE.
Any interested party may appear at said hearing and participate therein in accordance with the rules of the Planning Board.
There shall be a Planning Board of the Township of Medford, which, as heretofore constituted pursuant to the Municipal Land Use Law, N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq., and the Medford Development Ordinance, 1979-1, with specific reference to Article IV thereof, is hereby continued with the functions, powers and duties prescribed by said statute and ordinance, except to the extent that the provisions of said ordinances are inconsistent herewith.
The Planning Board shall consist of nine members appointed by the Council, provided that the Class I member shall be the Mayor or the Township Manager, in the discretion of the Township Council, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:55D-23; the Class II member shall be appointed from among officials of the Township other than a member of the governing body, provided that if there is an Environmental Commission, a member of that Commission in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:55D-23; the Class III member shall be appointed by the Council from among its members other than the Mayor; and the Class IV members from among the other residents of the Township.

Public Input on PPE Zoning held at October 2016 Planning Board Meeting
The Township Council has requested that the Planning Board undertake an examination related to the suitability of current PPE (Parks & Public Education) Zoning regulations and make recommendations to Council for updates and modifications, with priority focused on uses, buffers and setbacks.
The PPE Zoning designation is utilized for areas in Medford where there is educational and recreational activities; including the operation of public and private elementary school facilities and quasi-public campground activities, as well as municipal buildings, churches, libraries and open space, parks and parkland and municipal infrastructure.
Members of the public were invited to attend the October 2016 Planning Board meeting for a public portion for input from residents. Members of the public were afforded the opportunity to comment on any aspect of the current PPE Zoning regulations.
