CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

The Medford Cultural Arts Commission invites artists to participate in a “Paint Our Town” Artists Rendering Contest on Saturday, June 7, 2008. Youth (through age 17) and adult artists (18 and up) are encouraged to share their vision of their favorite recognizable natural, cultural or historic treasure within Medford Township in a work begun and completed on location June 7. (Rain date: Sunday, June 8). Selected artists will be invited to frame and wire their entries for exhibition at the Pinelands Branch Library for one month following this event.

Winners will be selected for the following awards:

1st Place: $300 Purchase Award

2nd Place: $200 Cash Award

3rd Place: $100 Cash Award

Honorable Mention: $50 Cash Awards (x3)

Special Youth Category: $50 Cash Awards (x2)

The Rules:

§ Artists are invited to create an artistic interpretation of any recognizable location within Medford Township. Artists need not be a resident of Medford.

§ NEW: Participants must bring their art surface to the Public Service Building at 91 Union Street, Medford, NJ, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, for validation as an official entry by MCAC. Validation on reverse of surface.

§ Members of MCAC, Friends of MCAC, and Employees of Medford Township and their relatives may participate but are not eligible for prizes or awards.

§ Any wet or dry medium is acceptable (oils, watercolors, acrylics, charcoal, pastels, pencil, pen & ink, crayons, etc.) No photography or computer graphics will be accepted.

§ Works must be 2D and not to exceed 30” x 40”.

§ All work must be done on location on Saturday, June 7.

(Rain Date: Sunday, June 8)

§ Completed works must be submitted to the Medford Public Safety Building, 91 Union Street, Medford, between 10:00 am and no later than 4:00 pm on June 7. The work need not be framed at this time. The validation mark must be visible.

§ Entries will be judged and awards announced at 4:30 pm. All entries must be picked up no later than 5:00 pm.

§ The winner of the Purchase Award, as well as those who elect to display their artwork at the Pinelands Branch Library will be asked to frame and wire their artwork for exhibition.

§ By signing the registration form, artists grant permission to the Township of Medford to reproduce the winning images and to use photographs of the artists and/or artwork for publicity purposes. Copyright will be retained by the artists, with the exception of the Purchase Award, which cannot be reproduced by the artist without permission of Medford Township.
